Pre-Restoration Home Tour

We have been looking for a vintage home for years and more recently concentrated our search in Floral Park for over the past year and a half.  Our dream came true in August 2012 when we bought this 1937 gorgeous Spanish Revival aka Spanish Monterrey style home.

This slideshow will take you on a tour of our home before the restoration began. Click the first image and then click the right edge of each picture to take you to the next.

  • As you drive up the 100' driveway you see the house with the courtyard and balcony.
  • Off of the driveway is the entrance to the courtyard with it's beautiful wraught iron gate.
  • Walking through the gate you see the flagstone covered courtyard ...
  • and the rose bushes under the dining room window.
  • As the front door swings open you see the entry hall and stairs leading upstairs. Notice the nice mirror in the niche.
  • Immediately to the left is the living room.
  • Stepping in the living room you can't help but notice the fireplace, large window and built-in bookcases.
  • Turning around you see the entrance to the living room and the carpet being removed.
  • Back in the entry hall, the den is to the left, the stairs straight ahead and the dining room to the right.
  • Standing in the den doorway, you see the wood ceiling, electric fireplace and into the spare bedroom.
  • The spare bedroom with its dental molding and arched closet doorway.
  • A door leads out of the den into a hall with a door to the basement on the right and a small desk area ahead..
  • Standing in the hall and looking left you see a bathroom and the kitchen to the right.
  • The downstairs bathroom is complete with a shower, toilet and ...
  • sink. A vintage etched glass mirror and marble floor tiles complement the room.
  • Walking in to the galley kitchen, the sink is to the left and ...
  • pantry, stove and refrigerator to the right.
  • Looking back to the left at the refrigerator ..
  • and to the right at the sink and back door. Notice the scroll work on the bottom of the cabinets.
  • The small galley kitchen is going to present some design challenges.
  • From the kitchen you walk into a breakfast nook with a built-in ironing board and milkman pass through under the window.
  • Looking to the left you see a door leading into the recreation room and one of the two built-in china cabinets.
  • To the right is a swing door into the dining room and a view of the entry hall.
  • Here is a view from the dining room looking into the breakfast nook.
  • From the dining room you walk back into the entry hall and look to the right to the hall.
  • Walking up the stairs..
  • takes you to the master bedroom on the right, a bathroom straight ahead and the guest bedroom to the left.
  • The master bedroom has the door leading out to the balcony.
  • Standing on the balcony you see divided Flower Street to the left ..
  • and a view over the living room to the right.
  • Looking down you see Nathan in the courtyard. What a great place to have morning coffee.
  • Back in the room is a closet with built-in drawers, a window and a cedar-lined closet.
  • There is another closet at the far end of the room too ...
  • where a door was added to allow you to walk into the hall bathroom.
  • The hall bathroom has it's original tile, a tub and shower with a nice niche.
  • Also upstairs is a very large guest bedroom with walk-in and built-in closets.
  • It also has it's own private bathroom ..
  • with a sink and toilet.
  • Walking downstairs, through the dining room and breakfast nook takes you to ..
  • the recreation room, soon to be my office. It has a beautiful view of the backyard, pool and fireplace.
  • It also has a door leading to the garage and a dutch door leading to the driveway which customers will be able to use.
  • Here is a view of the back of the house and the recreation room.
  • For those hot California summers, a dip in the pool is a must.
